Nice list, though I'm a bit concerned taht you'll get the same information and discussion on one forum as you do any of the others. Maybe not, but from past experiences on other admin forums, they all have the same types of administration discussions and there isn't much to gain aside from having another place your board (in your signature and/or in a directory), and even then, those people on the board seeing your ad won't be interested more than likely since they have their own boards (unless you have a promotion board).

when you just start you need visitors and members and you want it anyway possible and the best thing to do (and fastest) is to join an admin forum with a lot of members and get some of them registered with you.

and you have your first few members.

ForumPromotion.net used to work pretty well for me when promoting my sites but it doesn't seem to bring in much traffic for me anymore.

Sure, that does happen sometimes, but there's usually a different sense of community. I know I'm more drawn to ones that have intelligent conversation and not a bunch of know-it-alls or people who just write one line because they want their signature link to show.

So for me, I'll check out lots of different forums, but I end up settling into just a few along the way that really stand out as great forums. Even if they have some similar discussions, they're different enough that it's worth visiting multiple ones anyway.

Thank you for the mention, Dojo. :) Also, yes you're correct that you must have 15 posts before signatures are enabled.

TopAdmin.net would be the top of my list. I'm not just saying that- Dojo is so experienced that you really can't beat her. She's been there and done what we dream of doing- starting successful forums. :) But I suppose the others are good too :p

Sam, thank you for your kind words. I do believe all other admin forums are great. Am enjoying posting there and the experiences I can get. Any niche is doing better when there are more outstanding communities, than when it's just one. Competition breeds excellence and it forces each of us to bring in something for our members.
